The world’s most infamous Lobax and his robot companion just can’t stop getting in the headlines, can they? Even though the PlayStation 4 reboot of Ratchet & Clank was launched back in 2016, Insomniac and Sony are rolling out a new update for the game that will allow it to run at 60fps on PS5. In a tweet, the developer announced that the patch will be coming ‘in April’ and no specific date has been mentioned. There’s no word on whether it’s coming to PS4, too, so for the time being it’s best to assume the older tech can’t handle the 60fps update. It’s good timing for you to download Ratchet & Clank for your PlayStation 5, then: you will be able to download the game completely for free, without the need for a PS Plus subscription, until March 31. Ratchet & Clank is just one of many games that Sony is giving away free to players as part of its Play at Home initiative that’s been designed to keep players indoors as the Covid-19 pandemic plays out around the world. This time around, Sony’s Jim Ryan says that Sony wanted to go further than in April 2020’s Play at Home scheme, offering entertainment in the form of both games and streaming content. A follow-up to the game, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, is coming to PlayStation 5 on June 11.
